THE FIFTH EDITION OF VIVATECH WILL TAKE PLACE IN SPRING 2021

Paris, April 8, 2020 - In the current context of the global pandemic related to COVID-19, Viva Technology, Europe’s biggest startup and tech event, has been forced to postpone its next edition until May-June of next year.

Following the cancellation of the edition scheduled for June 11-13, 2020, various scenarios have been studied, in consultation with the major partners of the event. Faced with the uncertainty of how the crisis will evolve, the conditions cannot be met for a postponement to autumn 2020 in the same format that led to the success of the four previous editions. To support the recovery, all energies will be concentrated on the spring 2021 edition.

For Julie Ranty, CEO of VivaTech: “Given the changing situation, Co-Presidents Maurice Lévy and Pierre Louette and I regret having to postpone the fifth edition to spring 2021. All the various stakeholders in the economy need to ensure the resumption of their post-COVID-crisis activities, and we understand and respect their imperatives. The fifth edition in 2021 will be the culmination of a renewed dynamism and enthusiasm. For the time being, our thoughts are with all those affected by the pandemic and with all those who are courageously fighting to overcome this unprecedented crisis."

Aware of the impact of the cancellation of the event in 2020, especially for startups, Julie Ranty adds : “The VivaTech team has been actively working with its partners to continue serving as a facilitator of open innovation and supporting the ecosystem in this difficult period.”

Since its creation, VivaTech has been questioning the role of technology, focusing on tech’s contribution to the major challenges facing our society and its ability to positively accelerate change. This mission will be all the more useful and crucial in a post-global crisis context where the relationship with tech will have radically changed.

The 2021 edition will position itself more than ever as a unifying event for all the innovation players – resolutely human, participating in the revival of business activity in Europe, encouraging positive innovation. Serving the common good is a vision dear to VivaTech and its founding partners.
